Brunswick Phonograph Serial Numbers

Brunswick Phonograph Serial Numbers Lookup

This is is a Brunswick Model R phonograph, serial number 227064 in a lowboy style cabinet, probably built in the early 1920s. Brunswick was moving into the number 2 spot in phonograph sales in the early 1920s, so there are probably a lot of these still in existence, though the lowboy style is less common. Brunswick records first appeared in stores in January, 1920. The 10-inch popular records (the 2000 series) sold for 75 cents each and 12-inch records (20000 series) sold for $1.25. Early celebrity records (5000 series) had similar labels with a violet background. On April 1-4, 1930 the plant closed for inventory and was purchased by Warner Brothers Pictures, Inc. It was announced that three thousand workers would be employed after expansion. (11) The new company, called Brunswick Radio Corporation, manufactured radios, phonographs and loudspeakers. Employment averaged between 400-500 people. Great Lakes Antique Phonographs has one of the world’s largest inventories of original and reproduction phonograph parts and accessories. This catalog is a work in progress – cataloging our vast inventory is a tremendously time-consuming process, but we are striving to create a comprehensive online catalog that is easy to use.If you don’t find what you are looking for here, it doesn’t.
