Currently, Dragon offers Web extensions only for Firefox and Safari. If you wish to use a different browser, you can access some Dragon functions:

In Mac OS X, where are installed extensions for Firefox located? Dragon currently uses the NPAPI to interact with Firefox. Because the NPAPI is considered less secure, Google does not allow browser extensions using NPAPI to run when you are using Gmail in the browser. The Google Gmail page directs the browser to prevent loading of a plugin when it is requested by the Dragon Web Extension.

  • You can dictate into most text fields, but you may not have access to correction or editing by voice. Check the Guidance window for information about what Dragon can do in the selected text field. See Mixing dictation with typing for more information.
  • You can use menu walking commands to access functionality built into the browser. For example, say Click File menu, then say Click New Tab. See Menu Walking for more information.

To load webpages more quickly, save energy, and strengthen security, Safari is optimized for content that uses the HTML5 web standard, which doesn't require a plug-in. To enhance and customize your browsing experience, use Safari extensions instead of web plug-ins.
