Currently, Dragon offers Web extensions only for Firefox and Safari. If you wish to use a different browser, you can access some Dragon functions:
In Mac OS X, where are installed extensions for Firefox located? Dragon currently uses the NPAPI to interact with Firefox. Because the NPAPI is considered less secure, Google does not allow browser extensions using NPAPI to run when you are using Gmail in the browser. The Google Gmail page directs the browser to prevent loading of a plugin when it is requested by the Dragon Web Extension.
You cannot use your voice to access links, buttons, or other Web page features. If you need access to these features, use Safari or Firefox instead.
If you are having trouble using Dragon with Safari or Firefox, try these steps:
The Preferences window opens.
The Add-ons Manager opens in a new browser tab.
The About window appears. Firefox automatically checks for a more recent version.
For details, click the link for your browser:
If you are dictating into a Web browser, check the Guidance window for information about what Dragon can do in the selected text region. Even with Dragon Web Extensions installed and working properly, you may not be able to mix talking and typing on some websites.
See Mixing dictation with typing for more information.
Safari extensions add functionality to Safari, so you can explore the web the way you want. Extensions can show helpful information about a webpage, display news headlines, help you use your favorite services, change the appearance of webpages, and much more. Extensions are a great way to personalize your browsing experience.
Use the App Store to conveniently download and install Safari extensions. All extensions in the App Store are reviewed, signed, and hosted by Apple for your security.
Start by installing the latest macOS updates to make sure that Safari is up to date. You need Safari 12 or later to get Safari extensions from the App Store.
Find and install an extension:
Then return to Safari to turn on the extension you installed:
All extensions installed from the App Store are automatically kept up to date.
Choose Safari > Preferences, then click Extensions.
Safari no longer supports most web plug-ins. To load webpages more quickly, save energy, and strengthen security, Safari is optimized for content that uses the HTML5 web standard, which doesn't require a plug-in. To enhance and customize your browsing experience, use Safari extensions instead of web plug-ins.
